Welcome! I'm Alex, I took over ownership of The Flower Crate in 2020. With the doors closed due Covid it allowed me time to pause, reflect & plan for the future. I wanted to retain the heart and soul of the original space but I also knew that there was potential to grow The Flower Crate offering to customers both in-store and online.
Today you will see not only an exponential growth in stock but also an increase in floor space into what is colloquially called “The Potting Shed”. A lush array of indoor plants hang from the naturally lit ceiling space and tables. Garden wares and tools adorn the walls and if you need plant and gardening help this is the place to come to!
Behind the scenes I spend countless hours searching out unique brands and goods that make a trip to The Flower Crate a sensorial delight.
With a long journey in retail I love my time in the store engaging with customers, connecting with creators and suppliers and making sure that your experience is a memorable one.
Grace
Our Senior Florist, english born Grace has been in NZ for 7 years, three of which has seen her working her magic with flowers at The Flower Crate. Each bouquet is bespoke as she integrates all New Zealand grown flowers into her arrangements. Previously working for One Fine Day in the South Island, Grace also has a wealth of wedding experience. Grace dedicates her time to making sure that what she creates is true to her, the flowers she uses, the recipient, and the occasion.
Sam
Fresh to The Flower Crate team is Sam. Sam has a wealth of retail experience and is the friendly face who will greet you on your arrival. Sam will make you feel welcome but not harangued as you find what it is you need. Not to mention she is a master wrapper of gifts!
Caitlin
It his Caitlin who is our “Saturday Girl”. Caitlin has a gorgeous calm and welcoming nature and nothing is too much for her. Our Saturday customers like to take the leisurely approach and have time to wander and enjoy; Caitlin is the perfect host to assist.
Phoebe
Phoebe has been with The Flower Crate from the start. Starting as the Saturday Girl and progressing to full time she has now moved on to greener pastures but as she is my daughter I felt it very remiss not to include her in The Flower Crate team as we know we will still see her around! We certainly miss her enthusiasm, friendliness and gift of the gab and love her dearly X
